Diviac secures close to USD 1mio in funding

Diviac, the most advanced digital platform for scuba divers combining a cloud-based logbook, a social community and dive travel, announces the successful closing of a 2nd round of financing lead by StartAngels Network, the oldest business angel network in Switzerland.

diviac is a Swiss-based startup that was founded in early 2013 by two experienced business leaders with a shared passion for scuba diving and for all things digital. Their ambition with diviac is to reinvent the way divers log their dive history, connect with each other, as well as research and book dive related travel. Eighteen months later, the team has grown to 7 professionals located in three different countries. The platform has thousands of registered users from over 130 countries and major industry players such as Scubapro, ScubaBoard and Manta Reisen (Kuoni) have become partners.

When asked about the new round of funding, diviac co-founder and CEO Joel Perrenoud stated: “We are very pleased to have the business angels of StartAngels Network on board. They bring a lot of experience and an impressive network, as well as a shared startup philosophy based on lean innovation and agile development. We are (of course) also very happy with the actual funding, which gives us the means to fulfill our vision of bringing scuba diving into the digital age with a platform that seamlessly integrates Community, Logbook and Travel.”

When asked about this new venture, lead-investor Norbert Zeller (StartAngels Network) stated: “I believe that this digital platform solves two key challenges for divers: identifying the best dive spots and dive resorts in a given region, and booking the desired dive travel package instantly online. I am convinced that this highly motivated team will be able to cope best with the challenges ahead, because they are working with the so-called “lean innovation” and “agile development” approach. This allows diviac to find out and implement what divers and dive operators want in a very fast and efficient manner”.
